Family and friends often ask why I like to write Ghost Stories, and in particular where do I get my influences.
I've been interested in all manner of Spooky Stuff for most of my life - I remember reading Horror and Ghost comics as a boy and watching the Saturday night double bill of the Hammer films (they used to be on BBC2).
I guess though, it would be fair to say that the biggest influence on me regarding the themes, plots, and characters I incorporate in my own writing style would be what I have absorbed from the stories of, the late and great, James Herbert (below).
For me his best books are a toss-up between 'The Spear' and 'Shrine'.
So, which of James Herbert's books did it for you ?
